After slaying Murkelmor inside of the Horned Hold and freeing the many slaves held there our adventurers traveled back to the Seven Pillar’d Hall. Jett escorted the slaves out of Thunderspire Mountain along with a caravan headed to Fallcrest. At the entrance to Thunderspire, Jett met and eladrin maiden by the name of Arannis. Arannis being the free spirited ranger that she is decided to adventure with our heroes to further learn of herself and of nature.
During some shopping the next day Dalli and Ithryn had a message delivered to them by a very skittish unnamed kobold. The message was for a meeting with a supposid leader behind the evil forces in Thunderspire. Our heroes immediately thought it was a trap, but despite the peril they went headlong into the trap to uncover information. A brief battle ensued with some forces that our heroes found out belonged to an individual named Paldemar. There was also documentation linking Paldemar to yet another group of evildoers inside Thunderspire. The Blackfang Gnolls. The Blackfang Gnolls operate out of a well known place inside Thunderspire called the Well of Demons.
Thinking that Paldemar is a Mage of Saruun (because of the meeting/trap involving a Bronze Warder that they had only previously seen inside the Seven Pillar Hall and one walled away in the Horned Hold) they thought of circumventing the Seven Pillar Hall and heading straight for the Well of Demons. They decided to travel through the Seven Pillar Hall on the way to the Well of Demons and were eventually confronted by Orontor, one of the Mages of Saruun. Orontor was very interested in any information they had on Paldemar. According to Orontor’s words, Paldemar has been missing for several weeks. Orontor was quick to claim that be believes Paldemar isn’t gone from Thunderspire, and that he thinks Paldemar might be behind many of the new evils in Thunderspire. Orontor offered a substantial reward to our heroes if they were able to stop Paldemar’s evil ways if they find him.
While traveling to the Well of Demons our adventurers came across an wight by the name of Az’Al’Bani and his rotwing zombie bodyguards. Az’Al’Bani was trying to gain access into what Avatharian thought must be the Court of Bones. According to history the Court of Bones is a place of great evil sealed away many centuries ago. No one has ever been known to gain access to the Court of Bones since it was sealed. After dispatching Az’Al’Banis’ bodyguards he tried to save himself by bartering a bone key he had in his possession which he claimed was to an ancient treasure inside the Court of Bones. Our heroes ended Az’Al’Banis’ wretched existence and took the key. They then tried to gain access to the Court of Bones, and came to the conclusion that a sacrifice of some sort would be needed to gain access. Something someone of “goodly” standards would not be willing to do. They set off once again for the Well of Demons contemplating what the Court of Bones could mean for them in the future.
Arriving at the entrance to the Well of Demons our heroes were greeted with a magical message from pillars carved with minotaur faces.
Greetings, seekers of Baphomet's boundless glory. Those who prove unworthy oh his attention Shall be claimed forever as his slaves. Those who prove worthy Shall be granted power beyond mortal reckoning. Mask, bell, blade, and tome
While contemplating this message they were attacked my denizens of Thunderspire. A terrifying phalagar, along with cavern chokers and ghouls looking for an easy meal of anything too busy dealing with the phalagar. The newest party member Arannis proved to be the greatest asset during this fight. Standing out of range of the phalagars’ many tentacles relentlessly piercing it with arrows from her enormous greatbow. Our heroes fought long and hard, almost losing the life of Dalli and Mira as the phalagar and chokers were constantly immobilizing them offering easy prey for the ghouls.
